The TIMUR project consortium consists out of 7 Uzbek universities and 13 EU universities. The core domain of TIMUR consortium is Life Sciences. Partnerships addresses the following thematic fields of study: Agricultural Science, Climate Change, Sustainable Energy, Natural Science, Social Science and Geography. Through participation in the project of non-Life Sciences universities, TIMUR addresses as well the thematic fields of Business studies & Management Sciences, Engineering & Technology and Mathematics & Informatics & Communication.
The wider objective of Partnership is 'From Life Sciences to Sciences for Life' and collaborations between all life sciences stakeholders, from academic to private sector, to policy makers and civil society and to improve the networking and knowledge exchange between the public and private sectors as well as between industry and research. Within these four pillars are distinguished: Agriculture, Industry, new Technologies and Business. Knowledge – the triangle of education, research and innovation - has been recognised as one of the priority areas of the renewed Lisbon Strategy. And within knowledge triangle, Education especially, is seen as an essential element in the innovation process. Effective knowledge transfer is crucial for turning scientific research into innovations that improve the quality of life and enhance industrial competitiveness.
TIMUR project uses scholarships (read pdf) as a tool to create partnership which brings together the fields of education, technology, research, business and entrepreneurship, in order to produce new innovations and introduce them to Uzbekistan. The TIMUR project introduces the new cooperation patterns and will foster the Partnership through education and research on the related topics.
TIMUR offers scholarships to candidates from Uzbekistan who want to focus on study and research which will foster the creation of new ideas and turn them into innovative products, services, processes and policies.
The TIMUR project aims at the following specific objectives:
145 fellowships are available for candidates from Uzbekistan to Europe within the framework TIMUR grant from July 2013 till June 2017.
